19 Year Old makes $50 million dollar Magazine - Mashable
Pete Cashmore started the Mashable News “Technorati” on his kitchen table in 2005.  He was only 19 years old.  He created a Magazine money machine that gets over 12 million readers/month.  Mashable News utilizes the latest SEO techniques and includes tech articles about the latest technologies coming from Universities to get traffic for Mashable News.

Mashable News Monetized using Google Adsense

He initially monetized his magazine with Google’s Adsense.
Everybody is familiar with Google’s Search page.  People see the ads all the
time but many don’t know that all of those ads they see in millions of websites
are Google’s displays network.  Publishers get paid for every Google Adsense ad in their
magazine that gets clicked.  Millions of clicks/month add up to millions of dollars/month.
Make 50 Million from his Bed
Pete Cashmore skipped college to start the Mashable. He could not wait to be successful.
He describes himself as a Geek but others call him “wunderkind.” He says:
“The internet was appealing partly because it was something I could do in bed and feel
like I was achieving something.”  So that’s the secret to making 50 million dollars
while lying in bed!
His parents were wondering about their boy’s prospects.  Poor thing just sits in
bed all day.  Then one day a Daily Mail reporter knocked on the door to get the story
of this young man getting millions of readers from his blog written from his bed.

Cashmore’s advice

Cashmore’s advice to other entrepreneurs – “There’s an advantage to having a certain degree of naivete about the challenges and the way things were before, so you can build something in a completely different way.”
His parents told him not to take risks. It’s good that he did not listen to his parents.
He did learn his father’s strong work ethic.  In 2009 Cashmore was featured in Forbes
Magazine “30 Under 30.”  The Huffington Post featured Mashable news in their “Top 10 Game Changes 2009.”
Now the Mashable can directly negotiate with major advertisers and bypass Google.com!
