Buying a house is not a purchase that we often do….There is preparation work to do and steps to take. However, before you embark on purchasing a house there are extremely important things you must know before acquiring a Real Estate agent:

1. Get Pre-Approved before you start your new home search.
Getting pre-approved before you start searching for a home is a must.  You won’t waste time looking at Homes you can’t afford. Many Realtors require pre-approval. The deal closes much more smoothly too!

2. Don’t call the listing agent yourself.
Sellers and Buyers both have agents. They are experienced negotiators. Let your agent get the ball rolling.

3. Let the agents do their job for you.
Many times during showings and open houses buyers can innocently say the wrong thing. Similar to item 2, let the experienced agent handle everything for you. Besides being very experienced at these transactions, as third parties realtors can calmly and smoothly handle offers and counter offers. Also, they have better answers and solutions. For example, if the furnace is very old they can ask for a home warranty from the seller for you.

4. Pre-Screen properties before going to look.
Looking at lots of properties in person may make you feel like you are making progress but it’s the right fit that counts. There are many great real estate websites that can save you and your agent a lot of trips to the wrong home for you. Once you give your requirements to your agent, let them find the right home for you.
